Romano Reveals Man City Are After Former Chelsea Fullback Who Has Been Compared To A Young Gareth Bale

Newcastle fullback Tino Livramento is one of four options that Manchester City are considering as a replacement for Kyle Walker, according to journalist Fabrizio Romano.

The ex-Chelsea academy player was only bought by the Magpies for £40m at the start of last season but the Cityzens regard him as a realistic target for the summer transfer window.

Romano claims that a decision will be taken “ahead” of the Club World Cup on whether City make a concerted effort to sign Livramento.

With Newcastle now favourites to clinch Champions League qualification, it is unlikely that they will make the England international available on the cheap.

Livramento has been likened to a young Gareth Bale

Speaking back in 2021, Livramento’s ex-teammate at Southampton, Theo Walcott, said the right-back had similar traits to a former Tottenham and Real Madrid winger:

“Do you know what, he reminds me a little bit of Gareth when he came through as a full-back. That’s a big statement, of course, to compare him to someone like that, but I just feel like his presence and the way he drives and the pace and the power and it’s no surprise that you know what he’s going to do. He’s so strong with the ball and very clever and technically he is fantastic.”

Who are the other 3 fullbacks that City are targeting?

Reports in the French press have linked Juventus’s Nicolo Savona with a move to the Etihad over the past week. His Juve teammate Andrea Cambiaso is also believed to be on the club’s radar, having been considered during the January transfer window.

Flamengo’s Wesley is another name that has beenmentioned in reports recently. Both the Brazilian and Savona would be the cheaper of the four options, while the likes of Cambiaso and Livramento could cost in excess of £60m.
