Colts Set to Host Falcons in Berlin for Historic International Game
The Indianapolis Colts are gearing up for an exciting milestone in their franchise history.
This November 9, they’ll be hosting the Atlanta Falcons at the iconic Olympic Stadium in Berlin, Germany, as part of the NFL’s ongoing international expansion.
Scheduled for a 9:30 a.m. ET kickoff, this Week 10 matchup marks not only the Colts’ first time hosting a regular-season game overseas but also the first NFL game to be played in Berlin.
Berlin’s Olympic Stadium is steeped in history, having been originally constructed for the 1936 Olympic Games.
Now, nearly 90 years later, it’s set to host a clash between two NFL teams, blending the city’s rich past with the league’s growing global ambitions.
This game holds additional significance, as November 9 also marks the anniversary of the fall of the Berlin Wall, adding another layer of meaning to this historic event.
This isn’t uncharted territory for the Colts when it comes to playing internationally, but hosting this game marks a special first.
The franchise has previously competed abroad, including a match against the Jaguars at Wembley Stadium in 2016 and another against the Patriots in Frankfurt in 2023.
Both experiences helped solidify the Colts as international ambassadors of the game.
The NFL’s decision to bring a Colts home game to Berlin dovetails with their efforts through the Global Markets Program, where Indianapolis holds marketing rights in Germany, Austria, and Switzerland.
The Colts have cultivated strong ties to the region, with players like Marcel Dabo (Reutlingen, Germany) and Bernhard Raimann (Vienna, Austria) proudly representing their respective European roots.
Former Colts linebacker Bjoern Werner, a German native, has also embraced his role as the franchise’s ambassador in Europe, further strengthening the connection between the team and its German fan base.
The Berlin game is just one of several international contests on the league’s docket for 2025.
The NFL’s vision of hosting eight international games annually underscores its commitment to growing the sport globally.
Other games this season are slated for locations like London, Dublin, Madrid, and even Brazil, as the league continues to bring America’s favorite sport to fans worldwide.
