Without a true answer at their starting quarterback spot, the Pittsburgh Steelers have been linked as a favorite to land future Hall of Famer Aaron Rodgers.
All offseason the two have talked and met at the Steelers facilities. Supposedly an offer has been slid to Rodgers' side of the table, but he has taken his time to decide, leaving NFL world waiting on a decision on whether he will sign with Pittsburgh, announce he is signing elsewhere or retire from the sport as a whole.
Chris Mueller, a Pittsburgh-area radio host, said we may not have to wait too much longer.
"The Steelers are making a big announcement tomorrow. And I believe it's that they're signing Aaron Rodgers," Mueller said on Monday.
This nugget should hold weight as it comes from a plugged-in source, and also quickly aligns with the rumor about Rodgers joining a Pittsburgh golf club - although that was proven false.
This prediction aligns with other analyst's guesses as well, including Pro Football Talk's Mike Florio saying we will hear from Rodgers about his future "sooner than later".
For Rodgers, the Steelers are one of the few teams that could turn into a contender with his addition alongside star receiver DK Metcalf. The New Orleans Saints are another option with the abrupt retirement of Derek Carr last week, but they wouldn't likely be an immediate contender by just signing Rodgers.
The 41-year-old quarterback is on the free agency market after two disastrous seasons with the New York Jets that included a torn achilles in 2023 and a 5-12 record in 2024.
Despite the poor record, Rodgers proved that he could still play at a high level. Last season he completed 63% of his passes for 3,897 yards and 28 touchdowns.
Steelers faithful will already be getting major news on May 14 as each team announces their 17-week game schedule.
For Steelers fans - or whatever other team Aaron Rodgers decides on - they will also finally hear the fate of their quarterback position.
