Manchester United are close to a verbal agreement and personal terms with Wolves forward Matheus Cunha, it has been claimed.
Ruben Amorim's side have been linked with a move for Brazil international Cunha after impressing at Wolves this season. He has scored 17 goals and added six assists in 32 matches.
Cunha, 25, is seen as someone that would suit Amorim's 3-4-2-1 system and slot straight into one of the two attacking midfielders. United have scored the joint-fifth fewest in the Premier League this season - and Cunha would help add some much-needed firepower at the top end of the pitch.
And a deal to bring Cunha to Old Trafford is close, with agreement almost complete, according to Goal Brasil's Valentin Furlan. The transfer fee is 'expected to hit' £62.5million - Cunha's release clause - plus a potential further £5m in add-ons and bonuses for Wolves.
It's added that Arsenal made a late move to attempt to hijack the deal, but has reportedly been brushed to the side. United have moved right to the front of the queue and are expected to secure Cunha's services, even if they don't win the Europa League and secure Champions League football.
United face Tottenham in the final of Europe's second tier competition next Wednesday. It's a chance for Amorim's side to salvage some pride and a major trophy from a miserable season.
The Reds suffered their 17th league defeat of the season during Sunday's 2-0 defeat against West Ham, and sit 16th in the table on 39 points from their 36 fixtures.
After the game, Amorim hinted that he could leave United despite having the Europa League final around the corner and a potential place in next season's Champions League.
"I don't want to talk about the players," he said. "I'm talking about myself and the culture in the club and the culture in the team. I have that feeling.
"We need to change that and we need to be really strong in the summer and to be brave. Because we cannot have a season like this next year. If the feeling is still here, we should give the space to different persons."
United have one more game before the Europa League final. They travel to Chelsea in the Premier League on Friday, searching for some much-needed momentum ahead of their trip to Bilbao.
