25 G/A Liverpool star pledges future to club amid Barcelona links

Liverpool attacker Luis Diaz has been linked with a summer move away from the club, with Barcelona reportedly keen on him.

Luis Diaz has now handed a major boost to Liverpool by confirming that he wants to stay at the club for the long run and that he is focused on the Reds. It seems unlikely that Liverpool will let him leave anytime soon, and it will be interesting to see if they can tie him down to an extension.

There have been rumours that Liverpool could look to agree on a new contract with the Colombian international. Diaz has been a useful player for them since joining the club, and he has 13 goals to his name in the league this season, and 25 goal contributions in total.

The 28-year-old told Telemundo, “From the first day I arrived, I’ve always been very happy, very calm, always enjoying the football played here, especially in this great team, this great institution that is Liverpool.

“So yes, we’ll be discussing it; obviously, we’ll talk about it. As for me, I’d stay for as many years as possible. So yes, it also depends on the club and everything else. These are details that are sorted out separately. I’m very calm now. We’re living in the moment, happy, enjoying the Premier League and nothing more.”

Liverpool have managed to win the Premier League title this season, and they will be hoping to win major trophies next year as well. They must hold onto their best players to succeed. Diaz is undoubtedly one of their best attackers. The 28-year-old is capable of operating on either flank, and he will continue to chip in with goals and creativity. The player is at the peak of his powers, and it does not make sense for Liverpool to let him leave anytime soon.

Barcelona could certainly use more depth on the flanks, but the Catalan outfit will have to move on to other targets. Liverpool are under no pressure to sell, and the comments from the player will further strengthen their stance. Any club hoping to sign him will have to pay an absurd amount of money.
