Trey Hendrickson doesn’t see himself playing for Bengals without new deal

CINCINNATI (WXIX) - Trey Hendrickson says he cannot see himself playing for the Bengals under his current contract.

Hendrickson and the Bengals are in the midst of a contract dispute as the 2024 All-Pro seeks a new deal.

On Monday, Hendrickson released a statement to ESPN saying the Bengals are “no longer communicating” with him.

Hendrickson was at the Bengals’ practice the next day, but his time was spent on the sidelines in a polo shirt and pants.

He spent 25 minutes talking with media following practice.

Trey Hendrickson: Every relationship is repairable. Look at Myles Garrett. This is the uncomfortable part of the business side.

“I don’t harbor animosity.”

No communication has taken place between my camp and the organization post draft. The offers prior to the draft did not reflect the vision we shared and were promised last offseason if I continued to play at a high level.

Coaches are aware of these past conversations. Rather than using collaboration to get us to a point to bring me home to the team, THEY are no longer communicating.

I have been eagerly awaiting a resolution of this situation, but that’s hard to do when there is no discussion and an evident lack of interest in reaching mutual goals.

The situation between Hendrickson and the Bengals has been a major offseason storyline.

Once Cincinnati locked in Ja’Marr Chase and Tee Higgins to new deals, The Athletic’s Dianna Russini reported on March 17 that the Bengals front office was turning its attention to getting a new contract for the defensive All-Pro.

A little more than a month later, the Bengals used their 2025 1st round pick on defensive end Shemar Stewart.

The attention Hendrickson was reportedly getting from Cincinnati’s front office seems nonexistent now, according to his statement to ESPN on Monday.

The Bengals did give Hendrickson permission to find a trade out of Cincinnati on March 6, but no trade has come to fruition.
