The Buffalo Bills have plenty of incredible stories on their roster.
From an MVP quarterback in Josh Allen who didn't receive an offer in college, to a safety in Damar Hamlin who went into cardiac arrest on an NFL field only to return a year later, the Bills have full of encouraging stories of the human condition.
Now a new story is being made known. Wide receiver coach Adam Henry is not just a coach in the NFL, but he recently received his doctorate from Fayetteville State University this offseason. The Bills have playfully dubbed Henry a "human encyclopedia" as he focused his his doctorate on Educational Leadership with a concentration in higher education.
The degree focuses on developing leaders through the use of higher education. Henry is the first in his family to get a doctorate.
"You can ask him about anything," Bills wide receiver Khalil Shakir said via the team's website.. "He's the type of coach and guy that's always doing anything he can to be smarter in every aspect of life."
The road to receiving that historic diploma did not come easy for Henry. And the decision alone came years ago.
"I always thought about it," Henry said of pursuing a doctoral degree. "And then 19 years later, in 2020 we're going through COVID. All these things are happening. I thought, what is one thing you always said you want to do that's on a bucket list?"
Henry is the latest in a long line of incredible stories for the Buffalo Bills and their organization. As he continues his football journey, though, it's truly special to have a leader on the roster at the forefront of his education.
