Premier League legend Rio Ferdinand has come out in defence of Arsenal midfielder Declan Rice, rubbishing recent suggestions that the England international may consider leaving the club due to a lack of silverware.

The former Manchester United defender knows Rice personally and insists the midfielder did not choose Arsenal for money or personal brand, but to grow as a player and be part of a successful project.
“Yeah, and from knowing Declan, I think that’s where I think he would sit,” he added. “Declan’s not gone to Arsenal for money or fame. He’s gone there to try and improve himself and win. And if you’re not doing that, I could see him maybe getting itchy feet, but I think it’s too early to say that.”
Rice has been a standout performer for Arsenal since his arrival, playing a key role in their midfield and offering consistency, leadership, and big-game performances. His presence has brought both steel and structure to Arteta’s side, and many fans and pundits alike regard him as one of the team’s most indispensable players.
