Tom Brady and Patrick Mahomes have faced off several times before Brady's eventual retirement. Now, with Brady working as a broadcaster for Fox Sports and Mahomes continuing to cement his legacy as one of the NFL's top quarterbacks, Brady's respect for the Kansas City Chiefs QB remains unwavering.
This week, during an interview with Complex, Brady made a notable investment in Mahomes. The interview took place during Complex’s first-ever card shopping episode, where Brady and Joe La Puma walked around, chatting about their shared love for cards. In the midst of it all, Brady purchased a Mahomes rookie card for $7,500.
While $7,500 might be pocket change for Brady, in the world of sports cards, it's a significant investment. And in today’s NFL, there’s arguably no better player to invest in than Mahomes.

The card instantly caught his eye, and he requested it be taken off the market immediately when he saw it, emphasizing that it was a must-have for his collection. Considering Brady’s deep passion for trading cards, it’s no surprise that his collection is likely massive.
The card in question was a 2017 Donruss Optic Rated Patrick Mahomes autographed rookie card. It was graded an 8.5.
"I see this one, this Patrick Mahomes. I haven't even seen that one before," Brady said in the video. "I want it in my collection, so make sure you don't sell it. That one's definitely staying in my collection."

However, this card pales in comparison to Mahomes' most expensive card on the market—a 2017 National Treasures NFL Shield Patrick Mahomes Autographed Rookie Card #161, which sold for a staggering $4.3 million back in 2021.
