The latest Premier League transfer rumours, with stories from Manchester United, Chelsea, Liverpool, Nottingham Forest and more.

Welcome to your Wednesday morning round-up of all the juiciest new Premier League transfer rumours – which we’ll kick-start with a story which involves Manchester United, Chelsea, and the manager that links both clubs, José Mourinho.

According to reports picked up by aggregator website Sport Witness, the Fenerbahçe manager has “given his approval” for the Turkish side to make a bid for Jadon Sancho – which could make life easier for either of the Portuguese coach’s former sides.

As it stands, Chelsea must either pay a fee of up to £25m to sign Sancho permanently after his disappointing loan spell, or give Manchester United £5m to cancel the agreement. Either way, one of two sides will be stuck with a player that they probably don’t want.

Fenerbahçe could provide an out for either side, then, although the report merely states that they are “making attempts” to strike a deal and doesn’t comment on what they might offer. Their eternal rivals Galatasaray could have a said, too, as they look for a replacement for winger Baris Alper Yilmaz, widely linked with a move to the Premier League.

The 3AM Verdict: Some important context not available in this article isn’t just what the Turkish clubs might be prepared to pay, but whether Sancho himself would be willing to accept a move to the Super Lig at the age of just 25. It would certainly feel like an admission of defeat after a torrid spell in the Premier League.

Fabrizio Romano reckons Liverpool are close to key deal

One for Liverpool fans, now, courtesy of ever-present transfer reporter Fabrizio Romano among others - he reckons that the Reds are “advancing” their discussions with Bayer Leverkusen over a deal for right wing-back Jeremie Frimpong.

The Dutchman, a key component of Xabi Alonso’s invincible side from last season, has a €35m (£29.5m) release clause in his contract and Liverpool have “approached” the Bundesliga side in order to discuss a payment structure already.

Talks with the player himself have also begun, and Frimpong is said to be “keen” to join Liverpool as a direct replacement for the outgoing Trent Alexander-Arnold. No word on whether other sides might try to muscle in.

The 3AM Verdict: This is a deal which has been heavily rumoured for some time, which makes total sense for both parties, and which frankly seems like is more or less certain to be completed before the transfer window is too old. Perhaps another team comes barging in, but we’ve seen little to suggest it as yet.

Spurs & Chelsea in battle for Brighton target

Back in the winter transfer window, Brighton & Hove Albion saw a deal for 19-year-old Brøndby starlet Clement Bischoff fall through at the last minute after failing to agree personal terms – and now several teams are preparing to capitalise on a rare recruitment failure by the Seagulls, according to TBR Football.

Chelsea, Manchester City, Nottingham Forest and Tottenham Hotspur are the clubs chasing Bischoff’s signature after his £6m deal with Brighton didn’t work out, while the south coast side “remain keen” on the player themselves, even if the competition seems set to be rather stiffer this time around.

A host of continental clubs, including Borussia Dortmund, Ajax and PSV, are “following his progress” as well, with the Denmark Under-21 winger’s form clearly attracting plenty of attention.

The 3AM Verdict: Bischoff is a high-energy playmaker with a fine passing range, and we’re eager to see how far he goes – it certainly looks like he’ll have plenty of options. Given that the deal with Brighton fell through, he’s either after guaranteed minutes or a bigger team to play for. We may find out which this summer.

Nottingham Forest piece together four-man shortlist

Over to a story from The Daily Telegraph now – they reckon they’ve got the details of Nottingham Forest’s summer spending plans, and there are four names firmly at the top of their shopping list.

Perhaps the most ambitious target is Ipswich Town striker Liam Delap, who is available for his £30m post-relegation release clause but is being courted by a whole host of sides, but they’re also after Manchester City attacking midfielder James McAtee, Southampton’s deeply underappreciated box-to-box midfielder Mateus Fernandes and Rennes left-back Adrien Truffert.

They are likely to face stiff competition for all four players, and still retain an interest in players such as January target Yoane Wissa in case they can’t sign any of their first choice names – and much will depend on the future of Morgan Gibbs-White, who is wanted by Manchester City. Apparently a healthier profit and sustainability outlook means that the cash is there to spend.

The 3AM Verdict: This is a big summer for Forest and they’ll need to nail their dealings to remain a going concern at the top of the table – and they’ll find it hard to get any of those four if they miss out on a Champions League placing. Get a few of them, however, and their squad will begin to look like the real deal.
