OPINION: Arsenal Should Go After £85m Man United And Man City Target To Replace Thomas Partey

Arsenal will need to replace Thomas Partey in the summer transfer window as it looks like the midfielder will leave on a free transfer at the end of the season.

He’s due to become a free agent in June, and despite reports of contract talks, at this stage, it doesn’t look likely that the 31-year-old will stay at the Emirates.

This means that Mikel Arteta will need to find a replacement, with many reports suggesting that it will be Real Sociedad’s Martin Zubimendi. However, for all that is good about Zubimendi, he hasn’t proven himself in the Premier League before, and Arsenal need proven players to help win them a league title.

So who should the Gunners go after in the summer window to replace Partey? How about Newcastle United midfielder Sandro Tonali.

Arsenal should sign Tonali

The Gunners could instead target Newcastle’s Tonali, who has proven himself to be one of the best midfielders in the Premier League this season.

Plus, it’s not like there’s no chance that the Magpies would sell him either, as reports have already stated that both Man United and Man City are keen on him, and that Newcastle would demand an £85m fee in order to sell him.

Tonali is younger than Zubimendi, he’s already shown that he can play in the Premier League, plus, he has been superb for Eddie Howe’s side this season.

The 24-year-old has made 34 Premier League appearances, scoring four goals and providing two assists, which are decent numbers for a holding midfielder. Plus, if the Gunners were to sign him, it would mean that title rivals Man City wouldn’t get him, something that has to be good for Arteta’s side looking into next season.

Arsenal haven’t been linked with Tonali yet, but if they decide to look away from Zubimendi, it could only be a matter of time before they are.
