Arsenal have made a “generous offer” to Sporting Lisbon striker Viktor Gyokeres, according to reports in the Portuguese media.
There have been suggestions that the Gunners have already tabled a bid for the Swedish international. However, tabloid A Bola claim that things haven’t gone quite that far yet.

They do believe Mikel Arteta’s side are “best placed” to secure Gyokeres’s signature but things have only progressed to the point where they have made contact with his agent to discuss his salary.
A Bola report that the wage proposed is in the region of £7m a year net, or £15.5m a year gross, which works out at around £299,000 a week.
Gyokeres would become the club’s highest-paid player
Based on the information gathered by website Capology, Kai Havertz is currently the club’s top wage earner, taking home £280,000 a week.
If reports about Gyokeres’s salary are accurate, the 26-year-old would slot in ahead of the German as well as both captain Martin Odegaard and Declan Rice (who earn £240,000 a week).
Of course, that pecking order may change as and when Bukayo Saka puts pen to paper on a new deal. The winger is said to be in talks regarding an extension at the moment.
When will Arsenal make a bid for the striker?
A Bola suggest that the Gunners are biding their time. Sporting don’t want to negotiate midseason. The club are top of the table on goal difference, ahead of city rivals Benfica, with just one league game remaining so that is their current focus.
However, it may not be long before an offer is made. It is thought that Gyokeres will be sold for a fee below his €100m (£85m) release clause, with an offer of around €70m (£59m) to €75m (£63m) expected to be accepted.
