There is alot of excitement for the New York Giants. One reason for that is the arrival of former Penn State Nittany Lions star linebacker Abdul Carter to the team. Taken third overall in the 2025 NFL draft, Carter is expected to bring a lot to the table for the Giants, particularly on the defensive side of the field.
In the 2024 NFL season, the Giants were fifth in the entire league with an 8.21 percent defensive sack rate. New York’s pass rush was among the team’s few bright spots on the team in 2024, and it can get even better with Carter in the fold.

The sacks will surely come for Carter. After all, that’s what he does best. He was elite in that area during his time in college. In 2024, he recorded 12.0 sacks to go with 24 tackles for loss through 16 games with the Nittany Lions. Overall in his college career, Carter racked up 23.0 sacks and 172 combined tackles in 42 games, all with Penn State.
Speaking of sacks, Carter is ready for his celly once he starts taking down quarterbacks in the backfield, seemingly drawing inspiration from one of cinema’s greatest villains in history in Darth Vader of the Star Wars film series.
Expect Carter to go viral on social media the first time he unleashes that celebration in the NFL.
