The £30m Premier League star looks set to move this summer due to the vast amount of interest in him.

Chelsea are set for another busy summer transfer window, which Enzo Maresca hopes will be ahead of their first Champions League campaign since the 2022/23 season. They currently sit fifth in the Premier League in the last of the Champions League places.

If they are to make UEFA’s elite club competition, it will make the pull of moving to Stamford Bridge much more attractive to prospective signings, with more money and big European football available to potential arrivals.

The Blues have been linked to signing a striker this summer, but with significant Premier League interest elsewhere, the attacker could be moving to a rival this summer rather than Chelsea.

Delap close to Man United move

Delap has been a bright spark for Ipswich, scoring 12 goals in 35 Premier League games, which has attracted interest in the 22-year-old from plenty of bigger sides looking to add a goal scorer.

With the future of Christopher Nkunku uncertain, Chelsea are likely to sign a new striker this summer, but recent reports suggest that it probably won’t be Delap, as Manchester United are reportedly close to signing him.

According to Sky Sports News: “Manchester United are in pole position to sign him. One source has gone as far as telling us that he believes that the deal is very close and the player would be happy to move to Manchester United. Even though they are not having a great season, he still feels that they are a big big club.”

Which striker could Chelsea sign instead?

If Delap does move to Manchester United, then Chelsea will need to turn their attention to alternative targets, assuming that they are still certain on signing a striker this summer.

Osimhen’s future at Napoli is all but over, and so it looks like the Italian side will sell him this summer, with the Nigerian holding a £62.5m release clause in his contract. Chelsea have been reportedly keen on him for two seasons now.

Man United and Arsenal have been linked to Osimhen before too, however, if United sign Delap and Arsenal pursue their priority target Viktor Gyokeres, it could leave Chelsea free to go after Osimhen.

Furthermore, it has been said in the past that the Nigerian is a Chelsea fan, and would like a move to the Premier League. He has scored 24 goals in 28 league games this season, continuing his superb form from the past couple of years at Napoli.
