Report: Detroit Lions to open season on the road against NFC North rival

LANSING, Mich. (WILX) - The 2025-26 NFL schedule is set to be released in prime time Wednesday but several games and kick off times have already been announced. Jordan Schultz, an NFL Insider for Fox Sports, first reported Wednesday morning that the Detroit Lions will open the new season by taking on NFC North rival Green Bay on the road. The Lions and Packers will meet in week 1 on Sunday, Sept. 7 at 4:25 p.m.

Detroit has won six of the last seven matchups with Green Bay, including three straight wins at Lambeau Field.

The Lions won the NFC North last season before falling to the Washington Commanders in the NFC playoffs at Ford Field.
