Major NFL Announcement Could Impact Travis Kelce, Taylor Swift’s Holiday Plans

Last season, Kansas City Chiefs tight end Travis Kelce was fortunate to get to spend several major holidays with girlfriend Taylor Swift.

The Chiefs had Thanksgiving off before hosting the Las Vegas Raiders the following day for the NFL’s new annual Black Friday game—a contest Kansas City won 19-17 and Kelce recorded seven catches for 68 yards with Swift in attendance.

The Kelce and Swift families had a blended Thanksgiving celebration as Scott and Andrea Swift hosted their entire Kelce family including Kelce’s brother Jason and his wife Kylie plus his parents, Donna and Ed at their Nashville home.

And though the Chiefs played the Pittsburgh Steelers on Christmas Day—a game they won 29-10 that locked up the No. 1 seed and home-field advantage in the playoffs—Kelce was gifted some time off after KC notched its 15th win, and he took full advantage with a New York City date night with Swift on Dec. 28 before spending New Year’s Eve together in Kansas City.

But this year, the couple may have to move some things around for the holidays after it was announced the Chiefs will be traveling to Dallas on Thanksgiving Day to play the Cowboys.

Aside from the playoffs, Swift typically doesn’t travel to away games following the harassment she received two years ago at a game in Buffalo plus security concerns. But given that she will likely be spending the holidays with Kelce, she could make an exception for the nationally televised Thanksgiving game and make an in-person appearance.

The Chiefs also have strict game day rules that affect Swift should she travel to Dallas including an 11 p.m. curfew the night before games, all significant others—even wives—must stay in separate rooms the night before games, and all players must directly board the team plane after away games and significant others are not allowed to join.

Fortunately for Swift, the Chiefs’ Christmas Day game this season will take place in much more familiar territory when they host the division rival Denver Broncos at Arrowhead Stadium — a game that she is sure to be attending.
