The Green Bay Packers’ full 2025 regular season schedule will be released tonight at 8 p.m. EST. The NFL has already announced two marquee matchups: a Saturday showdown against the Chicago Bears at Soldier Field on December 20, and a Week 10 Monday Night Football game at Lambeau Field against the Philadelphia Eagles.

According to Fox Sports' Jordan Schultz, the Packers will kick off the 2025 season at home against the Detroit Lions on Sunday, September 7, at 4:25 p.m. EST.
The last time the Packers had a regular-season opener at Lambeau Field was in 2018. Jordan Love was a sophomore at Utah State, and Matt LaFleur was the offensive coordinator for the Tennessee Titans. It will be the first time Green Bay faces the Lions in Week 1 since 2005. Since then, the Packers have opened their season six times against the Chicago Bears and three times against the Vikings.
Hosting the Lions in Week 1 presents a good opportunity for the Packers to come out strong and take on what has been the bully of the NFC North. It is advantageous for Green Bay to face Detroit early in the season, especially with Dan Campbell entering his first game without coordinators Ben Johnson and Aaron Glenn. It is far better to face the Lions before they have time to adjust to the coaching changes, rather than later in the season when they have had a chance to settle in and find their rhythm.
The Packers face the fifth-toughest strength of schedule in the NFL in 2025, and what better way to open the year than by knocking off a physical, hard-nosed divisional rival? A Week 1 win over the Lions would not just send a message—it could establish momentum and set the tone for the entire season.
