Cowboys Catching Eagles With Tony Romo-Approved Trade?

The Dallas Cowboys acquired their highly-coveted wide receiver to pair next to CeeDee Lamb in George Pickens through a trade with the Pittsburgh Steelers this offseason.

After ignoring pass-catching prospects in the NFL Draft, many in Cowboys Nation became skeptical of the organization's plans ... but Jerry jones and company put an end to the noise by making one of Dallas' biggest moves in years.

This not only impressed fans and brought back excitement for the 2025 season, the move has also received massive praise from some of the best to ever suit up in the silver and blue.

Former quarterback Tony Romo joined in echoing his approval of the Pickens trade by drawing comparisons to one of his former teammates.

"That's a big trade. Having him and CeeDee together is a game-changer." Romo said during a round of golf this week.

"If you remember when they had Amari [Cooper], earlier and CeeDee Lamb together ... it makes it very difficult to focus on one player when you have two, kinda, superstars out there."

Ever since Cooper was traded away from Dallas in 2021, the Cowboys have struggled finding a solid receiver to take pressure off of Lamb, which resulted in a carousel of second-leading receivers ever since.

The addition of Pickens will take attention away from Lamb and allow him to thrive in the intermediate routes he excels in. Pickens has already become one of the NFL's best go-ball receivers, so Dak Prescott now has a full route tree at his arsenal from just these two.

Romo credits the Cowboys front office for how well they recognized this fit and made the deal happen.

"I think the Cowboys did a great job this offseason," Romo said. "Kudos to the Joneses and what they did because they needed to make up ground with the rest of the division, and they did."

The Cowboys will get an immediate chance to prove their offseason was successful against the NFC East as they travel to Philadelphia and face the reigning champion Eagles on Thursday Night Football to kickoff the season on Sept. 4.
