Liam Delap looks set to be one of the biggest transfer stories of the summer with Champions League hopefuls looking to sign the Ipswich Town striker. The striker has only played a season at Portman Road and despite the club's relegation confirmed, there are many suitors in the Premier League eager to recruit the young striker's services.
Delap, 22, has been strongly linked to moves to Manchester United and Chelsea so far ahead of the summer transfer window - which opens on June 1 - as both sides will be keen to bolster their attacking options with the prospect of Champions League football next season too.
Having made two appearances before for Manchester City in the past, the striker has enjoyed an impressive full Premier League debut season for Ipswich with 12 goals and two assists in his 35 appearances for the Tractor Boys which is why some a viewing him as a solid long-term addition to there squads.
He has developed well during his time at the Etihad too with loan spells to Stoke City - where his father Rory is well-loved over there - Preston North End and Hull City before securing a permanent transfer to Kieran McKenna's side last summer with a rumoured release clause of £30million.
Who is the favourite to sign Liam Delap?
At the time of writing this, United are the favourites to secure Delap's services next season as Ruben Amorim prepares to make wholesale changes to his squad this summer. The transfer will no doubt be contingent with the Red Devils securing Champions League football next season via next week's Europa League final against Tottenham Hotspur with so many other clubs with guaranteed European spots also rumoured to be chasing his signature.
United right now are the favourites at 2/1 best price with Paddy Power while William Hill and Ladbrokes are offering 6/4 odds at the moment. Other bookies like bet365 are offering evens while Unibet are 7/10.
Chelsea have been linked with Delap as well and are thought to be confident in sealing his services from under Amorim's nose. The Blues will be looking to provide competition for Nicolas Jackson next summer with Enzo Maresca in a great position to secure one of the five Champions League spots in the Premier League at the moment.
Even so, the club is guaranteed a Europa League spot even if they do not win the Europa Conference League trophy later this month in Poland later this month.
The Blues are currently 6/1 best priced with Unibet right now while Paddy Power and Ladbrokes and 3/1 respectively. William Hill are offering slightly better odds than that at 10/3 while bet365 is 11/4.
