NFL insider predicts when Aaron Rodgers will sign with Steelers

People around the league — and particularly those in Pittsburgh — are waiting on a decision from Aaron Rodgers.

But it’s mid-May and the veteran quarterback is a free agent despite the rumors linking him to the Steelers.

ESPN insider Adam Schefter projected a timeline for Rodgers joining Pittsburgh’s quarterback room on the “Unsportsmanlike” podcast.

“I think the Steelers’ mandatory minicamp is next month,”Schefter said. “Forget the exact date, roughly June 10. I would think that we would get a decision from Aaron Rodgers shortly before then about whether or not he should play. To me, you can’t miss that mandatory minicamp where you start gearing up. I guess you can, but that’s not ideal.”

The Jets and Rodgers parted ways last month after two disappointing seasons in New York.

Rodgers’ 2023 season ended after four snaps when he tore his Achilles in Week 1 against the Bills. With a healthy Rodgers, expectations going into 2024 were once again high, but the four-time NFL MVP led a team that instead went 5-12.

In 17 games last season, Rodgers completed 63% of his passes for 3,897 yards, 28 touchdowns and 11 interceptions.
