Ravens Make Major Derrick Henry Announcement Before NFL Season

As the 2025 NFL offseason is right in the middle of its time, there have been many big moves.

From teams starting their offseason workouts, free agency and the NFL Draft, there has been plenty of news and rumors throughout the league.

We have seen some interesting contract disputes with players like the Buffalo Bills' running back James Cook and Cincinnati Bengals' defensive end Trey Hendrickson, but one AFC North team had smooth negotiations with one of their best players.

The Baltimore Ravens have chosen to commit to the running back who's had a brief but successful stint with them.

Ravens sign Derrick Henry to a contract extension

After a first season with the Ravens that included 1,921 rushing yards, 193 receiving yards and 18 total touchdowns, Baltimore and Derrick Henry have agreed on a contract extension.

Henry signed a two-year deal with the Ravens in the 2024 offseason as a free agent, but Baltimore seemed to have liked what they saw and agreed with the 31-year-old to another 2-year, $30 million contract.

The deal will have him playing under Head Coach John Harbaugh and the Ravens through the 2027 season and keeps Baltimore out of having to look for another running back for years to come.

Henry has been one of the best running backs the league has ever seen and has been able to play at a high pace since his breakout year with the Tennessee Titans in 2018.

He was drafted by the Titans in the second round (45th overall) in the 2016 NFL Draft and continued his dominant path that was set while playing for Nick Saban at the University of Alabama.

After spending eight seasons with the Titans, Henry tested free agency for the first time in his career and decided to join the Ravens for the 2024 season.

It looks like the Ravens are going to be one of the best offenses once again in 2025 after leading the league in total yards per game and rushing yards per game in 2024.
