While not confirmed, it certainly looks as if the 49ers will kick off their 2025 home campaign in Week 3 against the visiting Cardinals.
Reading the tea leaves, it sure seems as if the San Francisco 49ers will have their 2025 home opener at Levi's Stadium in Week 3 against the Arizona Cardinals.
OK, so how did we get here?
The 2025 NFL schedule hasn't fully gone live yet. While there are a handful of confirmed games and a flurry of rumors, it's possible to piece some things together that suggest the Niners will wait until the third week of the regular season to be at home.
Including a trend of San Francisco playing road games early to avoid the late-summer heat that can torture fans at Levi's Stadium.
Reliable outlets already have the 49ers kicking off their 2025 campaign on the road against the Seattle Seahawks in Week 1. While Week 2's opponent isn't known yet, there are plenty of hints it'll be the red birds at Levi's Stadium in Week 3.
49ers seem likely to host Cardinals in Week 3 for home opener
The Twitter/X user @NerdingonNFL, who has been awfully accurate at leaking games ahead of the official release, posted the Niners hosting the Cardinals in Week 3.
Assuming that's correct, then there's additional evidence to suggest this NFC West showdown will be San Francisco's home opener.
The suggestion? From the 49ers' social media account on X itself:
Is something happening today 🏜️👀

Unless the intern posting the tweet is isolated in a desert somewhere, it would seem as if some desert-like team has caught the Niners' attention.
So, putting the proverbial "two and two together," it's logical to assume San Francisco's home opener will take place in Week 3 against Arizona (there's a lot of desert there, in case you didn't know).
Of course, Week 2 still needs to be figured out, and this whole conclusion could be thrown off if the 49ers are actually back in the Bay Area for that week.
But, based on what's revealed and suggested thus far, it looks as if the Faithful can start heading out toward Levi's Stadium the third week into the regular season.
