Saints Will Visit Miami Dolphins For The First Time Since Super Bowl Season

NFL schedule leaks continue to trickle in before the league's televised schedule release event on Thursday. Thus far, only a few of those leaks involve the New Orleans Saints.

As first reported by Nick Underhill of neworleans.football, the Saints will open their 2025-26 regular season at home against the Arizona Cardinals. Per Art Stapleton of North Jersey/USA TODAY, New Orleans will also host the New York Giants in Week 5.

According to FinsXtra, the Miami Dolphins will host the New Orleans Saints in Week 13 this season.

The Miami Dolphins are coming off an 8-9 season, finishing second in the AFC East. After making the playoffs in consecutive years, it was their first losing record since 2019. It will be their fourth year under head coach Mike McDaniel.

New Orleans will be coming into this year with a new head coach in Kellen Moore and a new quarterback in rookie second-round choice Tyler Shough. The Saints finished 5-12 last season, their worst record since 2005 and fourth straight year without a postseason appearance.

The Saints and Dolphins will face off for the 14th time. Miami holds a 7-6 edge in the all-time series, with a 2021 victory in New Orleans snapping a three-game Saints winning streak in the series. The Dolphins also own a 3-2 advantage when these teams play in Miami, Florida.

That 2021 game is the last time these teams have met. The last time the Dolphins and Saints met in Miami was during the 2009-10 season.

In Week 7 on October 25, 2009, Miami raced to a 24-10 halftime lead over the Saints. The Dolphins also held a 34-24 lead after three quarters. The Saints put together a comeback to pull out one of the best games of the 2009 season.

New Orleans quarterback Drew Brees threw 3 interceptions and was sacked 5 times as former Saint Ricky Williams rushed for 3 scores for Miami. Brees threw for a touchdown and ran for two others in throwing for 298 yards. A Tracy Porter interception return for a touchdown sealed a 46-34 New Orleans win.

The Saints were next in Land Shark Stadium (Miami) for Super Bowl XLIV to cap off the 2009-10 season. Once again, a Porter interception return for a touchdown clinched a win as the Saints took the title with a 31-17 win over the Indianapolis Colts.
