NFL Makes Historic Chiefs Announcement During Schedule Release

After the Kansas City Chiefs missed out on winning a historic Super Bowl three-peat, Patrick Mahomes and Co. are looking for redemption in 2025.

Before the NFL announced the full schedule for the upcoming season on May 14, several networks released dates for specific games throughout the week.

The league announced all of their international games except for one on Tuesday, which immediately raised some eyebrows. However, Chiefs tight end Travis Kelce seemed to confirm during Wednesday's episode of "New Heights' that he'll be traveling São Paulo, Brazil to face the Los Angeles Chargers on Friday, September 5.

"Yeah, we're definitely playing in Brazil," Kelce said. "I'll be there, not to do a podcast. I'll be playing football in the [expletive] heat."

"If it's hot and humid and kind of what I'm expecting, I'm gonna be miserable. But we're gonna find a way to get a win," he added

With Kelce seemingly breaking the news on Kansas City's 2025 season opener, fans could piece together the team's first half of the season. NFL analyst Warren Sharpe announced, "The Chiefs are the FIRST team in NFL history to receive 5 PRIMETIME GAMES in the first 8 weeks of the season."

The national games are as followed:

Week 1: Chiefs vs. Chargers (Friday)

Week 3: Chiefs vs. New York Giants (Sunday Night Football)

Week 5: Chiefs vs. Jacksonville Jaguars (Monday Night Football)

Week 6: Chiefs vs. Detroit Lions (Sunday Night Football)

Week 8: Chiefs vs. Washington Commanders (Monday Night Football)

Kansas City has at least two more primetime matchups as they're scheduled to face the Dallas Cowboys on Thanksgiving Day and face the Denver Broncos on December 25, marking the team's third consecutive year playing on Christmas Day.

With a major assist from Taylor Swift, the Chiefs continuously deliver record-breaking viewership numbers and it seems the NFL is looking to cash in before what's likely Kelce's final season in the NFL.
