Green Bay Packers Urged to Poach Free Agent from Lions Before Week 1 Showdown

While the NFL free agency market has died down dramatically, there are still a few intriguing options available for the [Green Bay Packers](https://totalpackers.com) to consider pursuing. At this point in time, there are some holes in the roster that could use improvement before the 2025 NFL season gets underway.

It has now been announced that the Packers will face off against the NFC North rival Detroit Lions to kick off the 2025 season. That will be a big-time season opener for both teams with a tight division race expected.

Keeping that in mind, Green Bay is being urged to consider poaching a free agent away from the Lions.

One of the main positions of need for the Packers currently is at cornerback. Jaire Alexander may or may not be on the roster when Week 1 arrives. The need isn’t as bad if he’s in town, but they could still use another quality piece in the secondary.

[Joe Summers of Dairyland Express](https://dairylandexpress.com/packers-should-sign-lions-free-agent-before-week-1-matchup-01jv7g220des) has urged the team to consider signing former Detroit cornerback Emmanuel Moseley.

He also suggested that even if Moseley isn’t good enough to be an impact piece all season, he could give Green Bay some valuable information on the Lions.

“At the very least, Moseley could give the coaching staff some insight into the Lions’ plans,” Summers wrote. “Despite having a different coaching staff, Detroit will have similar defensive principles that Moseley already knows due to his experience. Even if he doesn’t break the roster, this is a move worth making.”

Moseley hasn’t made a regular season impact since the 2022 season when he was with the San Francisco 49ers. He racked up 22 tackles, an interception, a defensive touchdown, and five defended passes in five games. In his career, he has played 45 total games, racking up 162 tackles, a fumble recovery, four interceptions, a defensive touchdown, and 33 defended passes.

Only time will tell if the Packers add any more cornerbacks to the roster, but Moseley could make sense.
