Travis Hunter has wasted no time [endearing himself to Jacksonville Jaguars fans](https://blackandteal.com/travis-hunter-s-first-rookie-purchase-will-endear-him-even-more-to-jaguars-fans), and now, the official date and matchup has been set for his NFL debut.
Jacksonville will not only [open the season at home in Week 1](https://x.com/Schultz_Report/status/1922653444357112033), but they will do so against Bryce Young and the Carolina Panthers.
This, of course, brings up a few intriguing storylines including one involving a pair of brothers.
The Jaguars' Week 1 matchup with the Panthers is full of juicy storylines
-------------------------------------------------------------------------
Travis Etienne saw his brother, Trevor, get drafted by the Panthers in the 2025 NFL Draft and this will be a chance for the two of them to square off. Trevor may not get a ton of playing time, right away, though.
The Panthers signed Rico Dowdle to come alongside Chuba Hubbard, who has performed well over the past two years in Carolina.
Meanwhile, Travis' future in Jacksonville could be coming into question. At the moment, the brothers are set to square off.
Another top storyline from this matchup is going to be the idea that Hunter could wind up covering Panthers first-round rookie wide receiver Tetairoa McMillan on occasion. With Hunter playing both cornerback and wide receiver, he very well could see some snaps matched up against the draft's top wide receiver.
It's worth noting that the two of them did play against one another in college. In that matchup, Hunter caught five passes for 74 yards while accumulating a total of six tackles and a pass breakup on defense.
McMillan, on the other hand, caught nine passes for 107 yards and a score.
Watching Hunter both on offense and defense, especially against a fellow top rookie, should be a lot of fun for Jaguars fans.
Not to get too far ahead of ourselves, but it would be quite a sight to see for Hunter to outshine McMillan offensively while also performing well on defense. That's assuming a lot, though, and putting a ton of pressure on the rookie.
However, if Hunter wants to assert himself as a legitimate two-way player at the pro level, this is a phenomenal opportunity for him to do so early on in the season.
