Rams owner Stan Kroenke eyes Olympics broadcast center, film studio in Inglewood

Billionaire Stan Kroenke wants to build a state-of-the-art film and TV studio at Hollywood Park in Inglewood, just in time for the upcoming Olympics. The owner of the Los Angeles Rams and SoFi Stadium has filed plans to build Hollywood Park Studios at an undisclosed site at the 300-acre Hollywood Park retail village at 1001 South Stadium Drive, the Los Angeles Times reported. The 12-acre studio would serve as a hub for the International Broadcast Center for the 2028 Olympic and Paralympic Games, after which it would be available for entertainment production and operations. It’s the latest step in Hollywood Park’s goal to merge media, entertainment and technology at its mixed-use development in Inglewood.“The vision for Hollywood Park has always been to build a city within a city combining media, entertainment and technology that will transform the greater Los Angeles area,” Kroenke said in a statement. The first phase of Hollywood Park Studios calls for five soundstages, each to contain 18,000 square feet, including two that can combine into a single 36,000-square-foot stage. A three-story, 80,000-square-foot office building would contain support, production and postproduction facilities. Nearby, a dedicated lot would provide space for trucks, equipment and actors’ trailers. An 1,100-slot parking garage is also in the works.Pending approvals, Hollywood Park intends to break ground on the studios this summer, and complete it by 2028. The cost of the project was undisclosed.Down the line, the studio complex could expand to as many as 20 soundstages and 200,000 square feet of related offices, depending on future tenant demand, according to the firm. Kroenke opened the $5 billion SoFi Stadium at the former Hollywood Park racetrack in September 2020. The YouTube Theater, located under the stadium roof, debuted the following August. In September 2021, the NFL opened a West Coast headquarters, including a new NFL Media facility, next to the popular sports and concert venue.  In October, Hollywood Park broke ground on a 12-story, 300-room Kali Hotel at 3737 Stadium Drive, to add to its shops and restaurants. — Chris Malone Méndez
