Amorim Left Sweating Over The Fitness Of 2 Key Man United Stars Ahead Of Europa League Clash

Man United defenders Matthijs de Ligt and Leny Yoro were not pictured in open training on Wednesday morning.

With just under a week to go before the Europa League final against Tottenham, head coach Ruben Amorim has concerns about the fitness of two of his first-choice back three.

De Ligt has not been seen since he went off before half-time during the 4-3 defeat to Brentford at the start of this month.

The centre-back is believed to have picked up a knee problem. Yoro, meanwhile, was substituted after sustaining what appeared to be a muscular injury early in the second half of the 2-0 loss to West Ham on Sunday.

When were de Ligt and Yoro expected to return to action?

Amorim stated before the second leg of the Europa League semi-final against Athletic Bilbao that de Ligt would miss at least two matches.

There was some hope that the Netherlands international would make the bench for the penultimate league game versus Chelsea on Friday evening but his absence from training suggests that may not happen.

With Yoro, Amorim played down the seriousness of the injury following his withdrawal at the weekend, but further medical examinations may have revealed a more serious issue.

2 other Man United players are still unavailable

Diogo Dalot did not take part in the full training session on Wednesday. However, he is making good progress in his recovery from a calf problem, having taken part in some individual drills. There is still a chance that he will return for the final against Spurs.

Ayden Heaven, on the other hand, remains on the treatment table. The defender has not played since the last international break, having picked up a leg injury versus Leicester City back in March.
