Ex-Newcastle midfielder Yohan Cabaye believes any approach for Manchester United forward Marcus Rashford may hinge on whether his former club decide to sell Alexander Isak this summer.
Arsenal legend Ian Wright said last month that he thinks the Magpies should pursue a move for Rashford if Aston Villa don’t sign the player on a permanent basis. However, speaking exclusively to Newcastle United News (courtesy of listofsweepstakescasinos.com), Cabaye said Alexander Isak’s future will play an influential role in the club’s summer transfer business:
“Well, for me, Rashford is a very good player; he’s at a high level. It depends on what Manchester United has in mind with him, and also if he’s looking for a new challenge. Newcastle could be a really interesting option for him.”

“The good thing is he can play on both wings and, as well as a number nine, so. I’m not quite sure because it also depends on Alexander Isak. What is he gonna do? We know that it will be a tough call for Newcastle, and any move for Rashford will depend on that as well.”
Will Isak stay at Newcastle this summer?
It does appear as if the likes of Arsenal, Liverpool and Chelsea have cooled their interest in the Swedish international. That is mainly because the Magpies have slapped a sizeable asking price on the player.
However, the position of the club has been strengthened further by the fact they are now looking likely to seal Champions League qualification. The additional prize money means there will be no need to balance the books through selling players to satisfy PSR.
Is Rashford a genuine target for the Magpies?
The England international is expected to leave Old Trafford at the end of the season, even if Villa don’t take up their option to buy. However, other than Wright’s comments, there hasn’t been any concrete talk about a transfer to the North East.
If Rashford becomes available for a relatively low price, though, it could be something worth considering, especially with manager Eddie Howe needing more depth in his squad for European games next campaign.
