Ethan Nwaneri has been given the number 22 shirt for next season, as confirmed by Arsenal Direct.
Myles Lewis-Skelly will keep the number 49 shirt for now.
Nwaneri has made 36 senior appearances during a breakthrough season for Arsenal which has seen him score nine goals.
The 18-year-old will continue to wear number 53 for the remainder of this campaign but will then switch to a lower number.
In recent seasons Nwaneri’s squad number has progressed from 83 to 63 to 53 and now 22.
Nwaneri is given the number 22 which has been left vacant by David Raya, who has now switched to the number 1 shirt.
Lewis-Skelly has also enjoyed an excellent campaign which has seen him make 37 appearances and score one goal, while he has also broken into the England senior squad.
Although he is eligible for a lower squad number, Lewis-Skelly could keep 49.
The number 3 shirt is expected to become available when Kieran Tierney departs in the summer.
