Arsenal injury, suspension list and return dates for Newcastle clash: Rice, Trossard, Havertz…

Before taking their customary lap of honour at the Emirates Stadium, Arsenal welcome Newcastle United to North London on Sunday for their final Premier League home game of the season.

Mikel Arteta's men still have a bit of work to do to be absolutely sure of a place in the 2025-26 Champions League, as last weekend's 2-2 draw with Liverpool made it three top-flight games without a win.

The Gunners' fightback from 2-0 down at Anfield was highly commendable, though, and victory on Sunday will ensure that they will be dining at Europe's top table again next season.

Here, Sports Mole rounds up Arsenal's latest injury and suspension news ahead of their clash with the Magpies, who are just one place and two points worse off in the Premier League table.

Status: Minor doubt

Type of injury: Hamstring

Possible return date: May 18 (vs. Newcastle)

Declan Rice was revealed to have picked up a hamstring concern before the Liverpool game, albeit just a minor one, and he was surprisingly able to train with the team on Wednesday.

The England midfielder's chances of featuring on Sunday are therefore rather strong, but it would still be a shock to see Arteta risk him before the campaign ends.

Status: Minor doubt

Type of injury: Hamstring

Possible return date: May 18 (vs. Newcastle)

While Rice hurt himself before the 2-2 draw last weekend, Leandro Trossard pulled up holding the back of his thigh during the showdown with the champions, suggesting that he had also tweaked his hamstring.

There has been no official update on the Belgian just yet, but he was also in team training in midweek, suggesting that an appearance this weekend is not beyond the realm of possibility.

Compatriot Gabriel Magalhaes sustained a season-ending hamstring injury in the home win over Fulham in early April, and the key defender is working to be back to full fitness in time for the start of next term.

Possible return date: Unknown

Takehiro Tomiyasu is currently on the mend from major knee surgery, and like Jesus, there is a chance that the Japanese defender could be missing for the rest of the calendar year.

Status: Major doubt

Type of injury: Hamstring

Possible return date: May 18 (vs. Newcastle United)

A sight for sore eyes, Kai Havertz trained fully on Wednesday at the Emirates, as the German closes in on a comeback from the severe hamstring injury he suffered in Dubai.

Arteta will give a firm update in his pre-game press conference, but there is ostensibly a slim chance that Havertz will be part of the matchday squad on Sunday.

ARSENAL'S SUSPENSION LIST

Mikel Merino took the walk of shame at Anfield for two bookable offences, and the Spain international must therefore serve a one-match ban this weekend.
