Former Giants linebacker and Ring of Honor member Carl Banks said he’s fed up with some Giants fans and their pretended knowledge of football.
Banks was prompted to speak up after seeing NFL draft analyst James Foster post a film breakdown of linebacker Kayvon Thibodeaux‘s pass-rushing performance last season on X, formerly known as Twitter. Foster said Thibodeaux showed improvement in 2024 and could be a quality No. 3 edge rusher. People pushed back against Foster’s assessment, catching Banks’ eye. Banks posted the following on X (formerly known as Twitter):
“The verdict is in .. my TL has decided that these “productive and”, “disruptive”, plays by @kayvont in a single season.. is AI generated .. and, oh they were probably rookies and backups in this AI-generated *propaganda* clip. 🤣🤣🤣 Y’all Have an awesome day!!!”
When another X user saw Banks’ joke and asked why so many Giants fans were angry after merely reviewing a player’s stat line without considering all the factors, Banks questioned their football knowledge.
“It’s really surprising that many—though not all—have allowed themselves to be dumbed down by repeating the first negative narrative they read,” Banks posted. “Our #NYG fan base used to be top-notch in football knowledge and would challenge the BS. Now some search for negative narratives, giving the perception that our entire fan base is dumb.”
Last season, Thibodeaux, who finished with 5.5 sacks, 17 quarterback hits, 28 tackles and eight tackles for loss, finds himself in a good position to have a successful 2025 season. In past successful defenses, the Giants fielded a deep rotation of pass rushers who consistently put offensive tackles in precarious situations, leading to pressure, sacks and turnovers.
The addition of third-overall selection linebacker Abdul Carter creates that scenario, joining Brian Burns as a starting edge rusher while allowing Thibodeaux to come off the bench to keep everyone fresh. If each player lives up to their potential, Banks’ assertion could prove right.
