The NFL didn’t think Saquon Barkley’s return to Met Life Stadium last season was worthy of being a prime time event.
So instead of playing on Thursday night or Sunday night or Monday night, the Eagles went to the Meadowlands for a Sunday 1 p.m. game in Week 7 and a national television audience missed out on all the great theater involved with Barkley playing for the first time against his former team.
After watching an angry mob of Giants fans burn his Giants’ No. 26 jersey as Barkley rode in on the Eagles’ team bus, the superstar running back scorched his former team by rushing for 176 on just 17 carries before sitting out the fourth quarter of his team’s 28-3 rout.
The league has decided that Barkley’s second trip to Met Life Stadium will stand alone as a Thursday night game in Week 7. The date will be Oct. 9 with a start time of 8:15 p.m. on Prime Video.
NorthJersey.com’s Art Stapleton has reported that the teams will meet again in Week 8 on Sunday Oct. 26 at Lincoln Financial Field.
The Eagles’ final two games have also now been leaked.
PHLY’s Zack Berman posted on X that the Eagles will travel to Buffalo to face the Bills in Week 17 on Sunday Dec. 28 and NBC Sports Philadelphia’s Dave Zangaro reported on X that the Eagles will close out their season at home on Sunday Jan. 4 against the Commanders. Berman also posted that the Eagles will be in Los Angeles to face the Chargers in Week 14 on Monday Dec. 8 and then be home in Week 15 against the Raiders.
The Eagles will spend another late September in Tampa as Berman reveals that they will play a Week 4 game against the Buccaneers at Raymond James Stadium on Sunday Sept. 28.
That means the Eagles will play their season series against both the Giants and Commanders in three-week spans.
The Inquirer’s Jeff McLane reported that the team’s much anticipated home game against Detroit Lions will be in Week 11 on Sunday Nov. 16. The Lions, at 15-2, were the only NFC team with a better record than the Eagles last season. The Eagles will be playing on short rest and after traveling following a Monday night game against the Packers in Green Bay.
The Eagles now know the dates of 13 of their 17 games. The full schedule is set to be revealed Wednesday night at 8 p.m. on the NFL Network.
