Eagles schedule 2025: Fun facts about all 14 opponents, including what Wheel of Fortune host…

The Eagles will open the season at home on Sept. 4 against the Dallas Cowboys and close the regular season Jan. 4 at home against the Washington Commanders. In between, they’ll be 15 games against 10 teams that made the playoffs last season.

A return trip to the Super Bowl is going to be a difficult task, but the journey is always fascinating. That’s why we’ve researched some facts about all 14 of the Eagles’ 2025 opponents and we offer them to you for your reading enjoyment:

Week 1: Cowboys at Eagles, Thursday Sept. 4, 8:20 p.m., NBC

Fun facts: The Cowboys are the first team with a losing record to play against the Super Bowl champion in the NFL Kickoff Game since 2005, the year the league started the tradition of the Thursday night opener with the NFL champion playing at home. The Raiders were 5-11 in 2004 when they faced the Patriots the following year. The Cowboys were 7-10 last season.

Since Jalen Hurts replaced Carson Wentz as the starting QB with four games left in the 2020 season, the Eagles have played the Cowboys nine times. Hurts and Dak Prescott, however, have only faced each other three times in that span.

Week 2: Eagles at Chiefs, Sunday Sept. 14, 4:25 p.m., FOX

Fun facts: We thought the fun facts for this game were so good and so fun that we turned them into an entire story that was posted Wednesday morning. You can read that here. We will tell you it’s fun to know that the Eagles and Chiefs once went 20 years without playing each other and this year they will meet each other for a fifth straight time, which is an NFL record for opponents from opposite conferences.

Week 3: Rams at Eagles, Sunday Sept. 21, 1 p.m., FOX

Fun facts: The Eagles’ playoff win over the Rams evened their postseason record against them at 2-2. The Eagles, however, had not beaten the Rams in the postseason since 1949 when they won their second straight NFL Championship game with a 14-0 shut out at Shibe Park. Steve Van Buren ran 31 times for 196 yards that day. The Rams, with Norm Van Brocklin at quarterback, ran 24 times for 21 yards. Van Brocklin was a rookie that season. Eleven years later he ended his career by leading the Eagles to a win over the Packers in the 1960 NFL Championship. Van Buren’s 196 rushing yards remained a team playoff record until Saquon Barkley rushed for 205 yards in last year’s NFC Divisional round win over the Rams.

Week 4: Eagles at Buccaneers, Sunday Sept. 28, 1 p.m., FOX

Fun facts: These facts might not be much fun for the Eagles to read. They are 11-13 against the Bucs in the all-time series, including a 2-4 mark in the playoffs. The six playoff games is the most they’ve played against any team and the four losses are also the most. The Eagles are 1-4 in their last five games at Raymond James Stadium. In his last two starts against the Eagles, quarterback Baker Mayfield has completed 52 of 83 passes for 684 yards while throwing five touchdowns without an interception. That’s a 108.7 passer rating. The Bucs have won the two games by a combined score of 55-25.

Week 5: Broncos at Eagles, Sunday Oct. 5, 1 p.m., CBS

Fun facts: This is Lincoln Financial Field’s 23rd season, but this will be only the third time that the Broncos have played at the Eagles’ home field. The Eagles beat them 30-27 two days after Christmas in 2009 when David Akers kicked a field goal with four seconds remaining. It was Donovan McNabb’s last win as the Eagles’ quarterback. Eight years ago the Eagles kicked into championship form by pounding the Broncos 51-23 behind four touchdown passes by Carson Wentz. They improved to 8-1 that day on their way to winning the franchise’s first Super Bowl. Nick Foles made his first throw of the season that day and completed it for 35 yards.

Week 6: Eagles at Giants, Thursday Oct. 9, 8:15 p.m., Prime Video

Fun facts: The Eagles as a team have rushed for more than 200 yards against the Giants in four of the last nine meetings between the teams. The 269 yards the Eagles put up in the first meeting between the teams last season at Met Life Stadium was the most allowed by the Giants since Seattle rushed for 350 yards against them in 2014. Saquon Barkley’s 176 yards in last year’s game in East Rutherford was the second highest total of his career at the time. By the end of the season, it was fourth on his personal list.

Week 7: Eagles at Vikings, Sunday Oct. 19, 1 p.m., FOX

Fun facts: The Eagles have been to five Super Bowls and last season was the first time they ever went to one without playing the Vikings. They beat Minnesota in the 1981 and 2018 NFC Championship games and they also beat the Vikings in the NFC Divisional round in 2005. The Eagles are 12-15 against the Vikings in regular-season games, but 4-0 against them in the playoffs.

Week 8: Giants at Eagles, Sunday Oct. 26, 1 p.m., FOX

Fun facts: At the start of the century, the Giants had a 71-58-2 advantage in their series with the Eagles and they started the 21st century with a three-game sweep that included a divisional playoff victory. Since that sweep, the Giants are 14-37 against the Eagles, who now hold a 95-88-2 advantage in the all-time series. The Eagles are also 21-6 against the Giants since they last won the Super Bowl during the 2011-12 season.

Week 9: Bye

Fun facts: Nick Sirianni is 6-1 after bye weeks, including a 2-1 record against Andy Reid, who is 32-8 following bye weeks during his career.

Week 10: Eagles at Packers, Monday Nov. 10, 8:15 p.m., ESPN/ABC

Fun facts: The Packers hold a 28-17 advantage over the Eagles in the regular season, but are 1-3 against them in the playoffs. All four playoff games between the teams have been played in Philadelphia, including last year’s 22-10 Eagles victory at Lincoln Financial Field. The Packers won the first 10 meetings between the teams starting in 1933 and held a 14-1 series advantage when the Eagles won the NFL Championship at Franklin Field in 1960 by handing Vince Lombardi the only postseason loss of his career. The Eagles have won 10 of the last 15 meetings between the teams.

Week 11: Lions at Eagles, Sunday Nov. 16, 8:20 p.m., NBC

Fun facts: The Eagles hold an 18-16-2 advantage in the series with the Lions and have won the last two meetings between the teams. They’ve also won nine of the last 13 meetings. The teams last played at Ford Field on opening day in 2022 with the Eagles hanging on for a 38-35 victory. The Eagles first used the Tush Push in that 2022 game against the Lions, putting the game away with a fourth-and-one conversion during which Jalen Hurts was shoved from behind by tight end Dallas Goedert. They probably won’t have that option in this meeting.

Week 12: Eagles at Cowboys, Sunday Nov. 23, 4:25 p.m., FOX

Fun facts: The Cowboys lead the all-time series 74-58, but since the turn of the century the Eagles hold a 27-23 advantage, including a two-game sweep of the series last season. The Eagles won the two games last season by a combined total of 62 points, which was their largest point differential ever in their season series with the Cowboys and the largest between the two teams since Dallas beat the Eagles by a combined 66 points in 1969.

Since the turn of the century the Eagles have won 11 NFC East titles to seven for the Cowboys. In the first 29 years of the division’s existence, the Cowboys won it 15 times and the Eagles won it twice. No NFC East team has repeated as division champions since the Eagles won four in a row from 2001 through 2004. Six of the league’s eight divisions currently have repeat winners.

Week 13: Bears at Eagles, Friday Nov. 28, 3 p.m., Prime Video

Fun facts: The Eagles’ series with the Bears started with a 3-3 tie in 1933. (Come on, that’s a fun fact). A funny fact: The Bears won the next 11 games by a combined 307 points. Through 21 games, the Bears werre 18-2-1 against the Eagles and through 30 games they held a 25-4-1 advantage. Since then, the Eagles have won 13 of 18, including the last six meetings. The Eagles are 3-1 against the Bears in the postseason and 11-2 against the NFC North in postseason play.

Week 14: Eagles at Chargers, Monday Dec. 8, 8:15 p.m., ESPN/ABC

Fun facts: This will be the 16th time the Eagles have faced the Chargers, but the same two coaches have never faced each other in this AFC-NFC battle. The Chargers lead the series 9-6 and have won three of the last four. The Chargers’ first win in the series came in 1980 when they beat the Super Bowl-bound Eagles 22-21 in San Diego, thanks to three field goals from kicker Rolf Benirschke, the future and seldom remembered host of the Wheel of Fortune.

Week 15: Raiders at Eagles, Sunday Dec. 14, 1 p.m., FOX

Fun facts: The Eagles are 7-7 all-time against the Raiders. They were 4-6 against the Oakland Raiders, including a loss in Super Bowl XV in New Orleans. They were 2-0 against the Los Angeles Raiders, beating them in 1986 and 1989. They are 0-1 against the Las Vegas Raiders, losing on the road by 11 points in 2021. First-year Seahawks coach Pete Carroll is tied for 17th in NFL history with 170 victories. At 74, he is the oldest coach in NFL history. Raiders quarterback Geno Smith has played 11 seasons for four different teams and appeared in 94 games. He has never played the Eagles.

Week 16: Eagles at Commanders, Saturday Dec. 20, TBD, FOX

Fun facts: Jayden Daniels was the third Washington player to win the Offensive Rookie of the Year Award, joining quarterback Robert Griffin III (2012) and running back Mike Thomas (1975). No Eagles player has ever won it. Only five Eagles rookies (Miles Sanders (2019), Jeremy Maclin (2009), Reggie Brown (2005), Keith Jackson (1988) and Charle Young (1973) have even received votes since 1967. Jackson and Young, both tight ends, each finished second in the voting. Jackson, with 29 votes, was second to New England running back John Stephens, who received 32. Young, with 16 votes, was second to Minnesota running back Chuck Foreman, who had 24 votes. The Eagles have also never had a Defensive Rookie of the Year. Washington’s last and only DROY was Chase Young in 2020. The Eagles and Jacksonville are the only teams to never have either an OROY or a DROY.

Week 17: Eagles at Bills,Sunday Dec. 28, 4:25 p.m., FOX

Fun facts: The Eagles went 0-4 against the Bills in the 1990s, the decade Buffalo went to four straight Super Bowls. They are 9-2 against them in all other decades and have won five of the six meetings between the teams in the 21st century. In 13 playoff games, Josh Allen is 7-6 with a 65.7 completion percentage and a 101.7 passer rating. He has thrown 25 touchdown passes and four interceptions. He has also run 112 times for 668 yards and seven touchdowns. In nine playoff games, Jalen Hurts is 6-3 with. a 66.8 completion percentage and a 95.4 passer rating. He has thrown 10 TD passes and three inrterceptions while running 78 times for 381 yards. and 10 touchdowns.

Week 18: Commanders at Eagles, TBD

Fun facts: The Commanders’ 12 wins last season were their most since the 1991 season when they went 17-2 and won their third and final Super Bowl with Hall of Famer Joe Gibbs as head coach. Daniels broke the NFL rookie rushing record by a quarterback with 891 yards last season. It was previously held by RG3 with 815 yards. Griffin led Washington to nine wins and an NFC East title in his first season then went 7-20 with a 79.4 passer rating the remainder of his career.
