Arsenal can exact Chelsea transfer revenge to sign Joao Pedro as Andrea Berta has huge advantage

Arsenal and Chelsea will be at it again this summer transfer window by trying to sign the same players after reportedly showing interest in Joao Pedro.

The Telegraph reports that they, plus Liverpool, are said to be targeting the Brighton & Hove Albion striker ahead of a possible transfer swoop for the player this summer.

All three clubs appear set to sign a centre-forward for next season, with Benjamin Sesko, Liam Delap and Viktor Gyokeres also being linked with the same trio of teams.

However, the Gunners seem better positioned than their London rivals to attract any targets. That, of course, has not always been apparent.

A look through the lengthy Chelsea squad illustrates that point, with several players who call Stamford Bridge home choosing blue over red in past transfer windows.

Moises Caicedo and Mykhailo Mudryk are the main ones, with Pedro Neto also doing so to a certain extent, making it one such move in each of the last three seasons.

Arsenal now, though, appear better placed than previously to end that streak, particularly if it concerns a striker. The Gunners can simply offer any striker transfer target more game time due to their gaping hole in attack.

Any prospective arrival only has to watch one of their matches since the middle of February to see where they would fit into the team.

Contrastingly, for Chelsea, the presence of Nicolas Jackson, albeit not for their final two Premier League matches of the season, poses a threat to the minutes of the new striker they are in the market for.

The versatility of Gabriel Jesus and Kai Havertz, when available for selection, allows Mikel Arteta the option to play them alongside any new addition.

Meanwhile, Enzo Maresca has shown no willingness to move Jackson outside his preferred position as a central striker this season.
