Arsenal are ready to offer Sporting Lisbon star Viktor Gyokeres a ‘monster’ contract after making him their top striker target this summer, Mirror journalist John Cross has revealed.
The Gunners have placed Gyokeres at the top of their shopping list following another strong season in Portugal and have been told a deal for the Sweden international would cost £60m.
While they are in advanced talks to land Real Sociedad midfielder Martin Zubimendi for £50m, Sporting’s demands for Gyokeres are also not expected to be an issue, nor are the 26-year-old’s wages.
Cross claims Gyokeres could command well in excess of £200,000 a week, which would make him one of the top earners at the Emirates, and Arsenal are willing to match his demands amid growing Premier League competition.

According to Cross, Arsenal face competition for Gyokeres from Manchester United this summer and are under pressure to get the deal done early after another underwhelming season under Mikel Arteta.
The Gunners are on course to finish second in the league for a third year running, although they could still slip further down the table if they fail to collect enough points in their final two games.
Arsenal’s pursuit of Gyokeres will most likely be boosted by the presence of their new sporting director Andrea Berta, who ‘has strong links to get a deal done’ and rates the 'unbelievable' Swedish star highly.
Arsenal are believed to have alternatives to Gyokeres, praised as 'the best striker in the world', on their shortlist, including Newcastle United ace Alexander Isak and RB Leipzig starlet Benjamin Sesko.
While the latter was linked with a switch to the Emirates last summer and would be open to a move, Isak’s summer exit from Newcastle seems much more unlikely at the moment.
