Arsenal have made strikers Benjamin Sesko and Viktor Gyokeres their key targets as they look to bolster their attacking options in the summer window.

The pair have moved to the top of the Gunners's shortlist after a deal for Alexander Isak was ruled out, with Newcastle refusing to part ways with the Swede.

Arsenal are in desperate need of strengthening their attack after an injury-ravaged season.

They currently have no recognised striker available, with Gabriel Jesus sidelined since January with an ACL injury, while replacement Kai Havertz hasn't featured since February because of a hamstring injury sustained during a winter training break in Dubai.

The German nonetheless remains the club's top scorer this season with nine goals.

Meanwhile, midfielder Mikel Merino has been forced to deputise as an emergency striker for much of the campaign.

Viktor Gyokeres has scored 38 goals in 32 league games for Sporting Lisbon this campaign

Benjamin Sesko, who is just 21, has hit 39 club goals across the past two seasons for Leipzig

Arsenal have only signed one striker, Gabriel Jesus in 2022, since Mikel Arteta became boss

Despite spending almost £700million on players under Mikel Arteta, Arsenal have only signed a single striker in the past seven years - with Jesus arriving from Manchester City for £50m in 2022. Pierre-Emerick Aubameyang in January 2018 was the last striker signed before that.

Sesko and Gyokeres would both cost £75m or under, which would suit Arsenal's budget, according to The Independent.

Sesko, who is just 21, has hit 39 club goals across the past two seasons and is one of Europe's most sought after attackers.

He has already made 41 international appearances for Slovenia, scoring 16 times, and has a towering frame of 6ft 5ins.

The pacy Leipzig forward would fit with Arsenal's strategy of signing younger talent with potential to grow.

The arrival of new sporting director Andrea Berta has increased Arsenal's focus on Gyokeres.

Matheus Cunha has been identified as another potential Premier League alternative to Isak

The 26-year-old Swedish striker has a release clause of £84.1m (€100m) but is believed to be available for around £67m.

He has scored a remarkable 98 goals in 100 appearances for Sporting Lisbon, including 38 in 32 league games this campaign.

Arsenal have been linked with Athletic Bilbao's Nico Williams but Matheus Cunha, Joao Pedro and Ollie Watkins have been touted as potential Premier League alternatives.

The Gunners also remain interested in Eintracht Frankfurt striker Hugo Ekitike.

The club are in a strong position in relation to the Premier League's Profitability & Sustainability Rules and are though to have around £100m to spend in the next window.
