Kansas City Chiefs’ Announcement Sparks Backlash

A new announcement by the Kansas City Chiefs has angered fans online.

The Context

The Chiefs' 2025 schedule has been released, and the NFL team is playing on both Thanksgiving and Christmas this year. On November 27, the Chiefs will be going up against the Dallas Cowboys, and on December 25, they'll be hoping for a win against the Denver Broncos.

The Chiefs played on Christmas day in 2023 and 2024 and last played on Thanksgiving in 2006.

The Chiefs have been victorious in four Super Bowls. The wins came in 1970, 2020, 2023 and 2024. Their head coach Andy Reid, who has been with the team since 2013, led them to three of those trophies.

In 2025, the Chiefs had another shot at winning during Super Bowl LIX in February but lost 40-22 to the Philadelphia Eagles.

What To Know

On Wednesday, the Chiefs took to X, formerly Twitter, to share the news about their Thanksgiving Day game with fans.

"World's gonna be watching this one," they captioned a shot of Chiefs tight end and Taylor Swift's boyfriend, Travis Kelce.

At the time of publication, the post racked up more than 570,500 views and over 220 comments.

Newsweek reached out to Reid's representative via email for comment.
