Chelsea will be in the market to sign a striker in the summer transfer window. And there are plenty of names in the frame for Enzo Maresca to complete a deal for.
football.london understands that the Blues have a four-man shortlist when it comes to signing a frontman this summer, although they will face plenty of competition when it comes to signing any one of them.
The shortlist is Liam Delap, Jonathan David, Benjamin Sesko and Hugo Ekitike. But there is a name conspicuous by its absence from that list - Victor Osimhen.
Osimhen is a name that has become synonymous with Chelsea transfer gossip given he has been continuously linked with a move to Stamford Bridge, and you would expect his future to be a topic of much conversation this summer.
The 26-year-old has starred in the Turkish Super League with Galatasaray this season, notching an impressive 24 goals in 28 matches. He has 35 goals and eight assists in 39 matches in all competitions, but his time in Turkey is likely to end this summer.
Osimhen is only on loan with the Turkish side until the end of the season, having fallen out with new Napoli coach Antonio Conte last summer.
His time in Naples is at an end, by all accounts, but anyone wishing to sign him will still have to pay big money. But not as big as previously. His contract with Napoli ends in 2026 and if the Italian side will need to sell this summer to make any money from him.
The reason Osimhen is not on the Chelsea shortlist currently is down to two things - age and wages. Osimhen is older than any of the four names on the Blues' shortlist and will cost the most when it comes to wages.
That is not to say Chelsea are not interested in him. He is still admired by those behind the scenes at Stamford Bridge and is still of interest, but it may well be that Chelsea look elsewhere before making a decision on the Nigerian.
