The Dallas Cowboys are heading into their first season with head coach Brian Schottenheimer, as they look to rebound from a 7-10 season in 2024.
While the team’s opponents were known back in January, the official 2025 schedule was released by the NFL on Wednesday night. Here is the full 17-game slate with notes on each game.
Week 1: Cowboys at Eagles (Thurs., Sept. 4 at 7:20 p.m. CST on NBC)
The Cowboys will open the season on the road in the first game of the NFL season, as the Eagles will hang their Super Bowl banner from last season’s success. It will mark the official beginning of the Brian Schottenheimer era in Dallas and the first regular season game for new addition George Pickens.
Week 2: Giants at Cowboys (Sun., Sept. 14 at 12 p.m. CST on FOX)
The team’s home opener will feature the New York Giants coming into town for the first time with Russell Wilson as the starting quarterback. Dak Prescott will look to continue his streak of 13 straight wins over the Giants as the starting quarterback for Dallas.
Week 3: Cowboys at Bears (Sun., Sept. 21 at 3:25 p.m. CST on FOX)
The Cowboys will make their first trip to Soldier Field in Chicago since 2019. With September still being a relatively cool month in Chicago, the Cowboys should be able to duck any cold weather with their trip to the Windy City. It will be Dallas’ first matchup against 2024 No. 1 overall pick Caleb Williams, as he will be in the third game of the Ben Johnson era in Chicago.
Week 4: Packers at Cowboys (Sun., Sept. 28 at 7:20 p.m. CST on NBC)
The Packers will make their first trip to Dallas since the 48-32 Wild Card round victory in 2024 that sent shockwaves throughout the NFL. With new addition Matthew Golden at wide receiver, the Packers will have even more offensive firepower in 2025.
Week 5: Cowboys at Jets (Sun., Oct. 5 at 12 p.m. CST on FOX)
Two trips to MetLife Stadium are in the cards for the Cowboys this season, as the Jets will welcome in Dallas for the first time since 2019. Justin Fields is currently slated to be the starting quarterback for New York, making it three matchups in four years between the former Ohio State quarterback at the Cowboys.
Week 6: Cowboys at Panthers (Sun. Oct. 12 at 12 p.m. CST on FOX)
For the third season in a row, the Cowboys will make the trip to Charlotte to take on the Panthers. They will look to make it three wins in a row against Bryce Young and his new weapon at the wide receiver spot, Tetairoa McMillan, who the Cowboys had a close eye on during the draft process. It will also be new Panthers running back Rico Dowdle’s first game against his former team.
Week 7: Commanders at Cowboys (Sun., Oct. 19 at 3:25 p.m. CST on FOX)
The Commanders have a different presence entering 2025 after an appearance in the NFC Championship Game in 2024. It will be Dante Fowler’s first opportunity to play against the team he played for in 2024, and it will be Dallas’ chance at getting a jump in the division standings in the middle of the season.
Week 8: Cowboys at Broncos (Sun., Oct. 26 at 3:25 p.m. CST on CBS)
It’s been eight years since arguably one of the ugliest losses in the Dak Prescott era when the Cowboys last traveled to Denver. That 42-17 loss made it six straight losses for Dallas against the Broncos, and a loss in 2021 made it seven straight. Against Bo Nix and Sean Payton, the Cowboys will look for their first win over Denver since 1995.
Week 9: Cardinals at Cowboys (Mon., Nov. 3 at 7:15 p.m. CST on ESPN)
Going back to his time at Allen High School, Cardinals quarterback Kyler Murray is a perfect 9-0 at AT&T Stadium including a win over the Cowboys in 2022. He will look to make it 10 straight victories in the Cowboys’ final game before the bye week on Monday night.
Week 10: BYE
After back-to-back seasons with an early bye week in October, the Cowboys get a break closer to the midway point of the season to reset for a tough stretch of teams to finish the year.
Week 11: Cowboys at Raiders (Mon., Nov. 17 at 7:15 p.m. CST on ESPN)
While the Cowboys did visit Las Vegas in the 2024 preseason, this visit will be the first regular season game played by the franchise in Sin City. The Raiders will flex their new weapon in running back Ashton Jeanty in another Monday night matchup on ESPN.
Week 12: Eagles at Cowboys (Sun., Nov. 23 at 3:25 p.m. CST on FOX)
The defending Super Bowl champions will finish off their season series with the Cowboys before Thanksgiving for the first time since 2015. For the Cowboys, it’s the beginning of five consecutive games against playoff teams from 2024.
Week 13: Chiefs at Cowboys (Thurs., Nov. 27 at 3:30 p.m. CST on CBS)
It’s a Dallas homecoming on Thanksgiving Day for the Kansas City Chiefs organization who originated in Dallas back in 1960 as an AFL team. Sixty-five years later, East Texas native Patrick Mahomes will look for his first win in AT&T Stadium and the franchise’s first win in Dallas since 1975. The Cowboys will play both teams from last year’s Super Bowl in the span of five days.
Week 14: Cowboys at Lions (Thurs., Dec. 4 at 7:15 p.m. CST on Prime Video)
Things look a lot different for the Lions since the last time Dallas traveled to Ford Field in 2019 and came away with a 35-27 win. And if you need proof, just refer to the 47-9 beatdown that Detroit handed the Cowboys at AT&T Stadium last season in the largest home loss in the Jerry Jones era.
Week 15: Vikings at Cowboys (Sun., Dec. 14 at 7:20 p.m. CST on NBC)
Time will tell if J.J. McCarthy is the answer at quarterback for the Vikings, but they will get the majority of the season to figure it out before heading to Arlington to take on the Cowboys.
Week 16: Chargers at Cowboys (Sun., Dec. 21 at 12 p.m. CST on FOX)
Despite being in separate conferences, the Chargers and Cowboys will be facing off for the fifth consecutive season in either a preseason or regular season contest. It will be the first regular season game that Dallas has played against Los Angeles with Jim Harbaugh as the head coach.
Week 17: Cowboys at Commanders (Sun., Dec. 25 at 12 p.m. CST on Netflix)
For the first time since 2010, the Cowboys will play on Christmas Day, as they will travel to the nation’s capital for the second of two games against the Commanders. After an unruly visit to Northwest Stadium in 2024 that saw the Cowboys pull off a chaotic 34-26 win, they will look for their third straight road win over their divisional foes in their eighth and final standalone game.
Week 18: Cowboys at Giants (time and date to be determined)
The Cowboys will close the season on the road for the first time since 2023 with their second matchup against the Giants and their second trip to MetLife Stadium. As division and playoff seeding come into focus, the week 18 matchup could be crucial in determining Dallas’ playoff fate.
The Cowboys have their three preseason opponents determined, but dates and times will be set at a later date by the NFL.
Preseason Week 1: Cowboys at Rams (time and date to be determined)
Preseason Week 2: Ravens at Cowboys (time and date to be determined)
Preseason Week 3: Falcons at Cowboys (time and date to be determined)
