The Chelsea goalkeeper knows exactly what the FA Cup means. She's been watching it for years, but now she will have a chance to feature in the famous old competition's final at Wembley Stadium.
A 16-year-old Hampton was in the Birmingham City academy when the Blues reached the 2017 Women's FA Cup final, before she signed a professional contract at St. Andrew's the following year.
That day, her side were on the receiving end of a 4-1 defeat at the hands of Manchester City, but now eight years later, she's hoping to lift the trophy with Chelsea.
'The FA Cup is something that I’ve always watched,' Hampton says. 'From the moment when I was involved with it at Birmingham against Man City, I wanted to get back to a cup final at Wembley. I knew moving to Chelsea, I'd be able to accomplish that. So if I could go that one step further and win it yeah, it would be special.
'It’s an historic trophy that everyone speaks about and I think it'll top off an already successful season for us to win it, getting that domestic treble.'
Two years ago, [Sam Kerr](/en/teams/profile/sam-kerr) struck from close range to deliver the only goal of the FA Cup final against Manchester United and delighted our fans with her backflip celebration.
Later that summer, Hampton signed for Chelsea.
'I watched when Sam Kerr scored the winner, and I was rooting for Chelsea,' Hampton grins. 'Then she pulled out the famous backflip. I was thinking, oh my God, oh my God!
'Basically, every single time Chelsea have got to a final I've watched it and I've cheered for them. Even though I didn't know anyone, it's just that it was always a club that I wanted to go to.'
Now at the end of her second campaign in blue, Hampton is relishing the chance to play in this Sunday's final.
No matter the magnitude of the occasion, she is determined to play her role in delivering a winning result in a Chelsea shirt.
'It’s special for me to be involved in a day like that,' the goalkeeper continued. 'But for me, any game for Chelsea, whether it's big like an FA Cup final or a Champions League semi-final or a smaller game where we're playing in the League Cup group stage, we're representing this club. I'll give it my all every single time I step on that pitch.
'It'll be a lovely day on Sunday and if we win, it'll be topped off even better.'
