Why Serena Williams will be watching record-extending Chelsea vs Manchester United this weekend

Chelsea Women are looking for their third piece of silverware this season on Sunday as they take on Manchester United in the Women's FA Cup final at Wembley.

It has been another sensational season for the [Blues](https://www.football.london/chelsea-fc), who secured a record-extending sixth consecutive WSL title earlier in the month. On top of that, the west Londoners triumphed in the Women's League Cup earlier in the year and have the chance to secure the domestic treble at the weekend.

As you can imagine, there is plenty of pre-final build-up to get our teeth into, as well as a big change within the club. With all of this being said, here is your weekly Chelsea Women round-up:

### Rytting Kaneryd hoping for Wembley chance

Two seasons ago, Chelsea Women beat Manchester United 1-0 in the FA Cup final. While it is certainly a team game, Johanna Rytting Kaneryd will be hoping things pan out a bit differently on a personal note this time around.

An unused substitute two years ago, the Swede has since gone on to become an integral part under Sonia Bompastor. The 28-year-old is desperate to get onto the pitch this time and prove herself on the biggest stage at Wembley.

"It was such a big experience coming from Sweden - I didn't really understand how big it was to play for a final at Wembley," she said. "But I realised the way everyone was talking about the FA Cup, that it was huge.

"I realised pretty quick that this is something really, really big to win - and just the fact to play at Wembley, that is what you dream about to play in a big stadium. I remember just walking out there before the game, it was like 'wow, just take this in, take a moment because this is what a young Johanna dreamed about'."

### Chelsea sent big warning

Manchester United winger Leah Galton has insisted her side know exactly how to get the better of Chelsea on Sunday and lift the FA Cup. In the two WSL matches this season, the Blues have got the better of United on both occasions, but only by the one goal each time.

Galton is adamant they know how to beat Chelsea but is expecting a really tough test. "It's hard," she said to Sky Sports News. "We think we can beat them and we know we can beat them, but then you look at the stats and their season.

"They're unbeaten, we've lost twice to them 1-0, so it's close. I can't say too much but we know who we're playing against and we know how to beat them, it's just putting it into practice on the day.

"That's what'll make it feel even better when we do win, and I'll speak positively, so when we win it'll be a great feeling."

### New minority owner

Chelsea Women have confirmed that Alexis Ohanian, a tech entrepreneur and founder of Seven Seven Six, has joined the club as a minority investor. In a statement released by the club on Thursday morning, the Blues spoke about a "game-changing" moment for them and women's football as a whole, with Ohanian buying an 8% stake in CFCW.

The statement read: "With two titles sealed already this season, including a record-extending sixth consecutive Women's League Cup, Ohanian's investment is a game-changing endorsement of Chelsea Women, and for women's football in Europe and across the world. It signals a new era for the women's game and is confirmation of CFCW's potential for growth, both on and off the pitch.

"Last year, Chelsea Women repositioned ourself within the club to provide the opportunity for investment specifically to support women's football. Alexis' investment provides further validation of this strategy as well as additional resources and capital to drive Chelsea's continued leadership globally.

"Ohanian brings with him a wealth of experience, energy and passion for women's sports that will help take Chelsea Women to the next level and shine a light on the potential of the sport here in the UK."

Ohanian will be present for Chelsea's Women's FA Cup final against Manchester United this weekend. His wife, former tennis superstar Serena Williams, will also be at the final.
