Ex-Steelers Star Shares Controversial Opinion on Mike Tomlin’s Coaching Future

Mike Tomlin and the Pittsburgh Steelers are heading into the 2025 NFL season hoping to make a run at a Super Bowl. A lot of those hopes ride on whether or not the team is able to work out a deal with future Hall of Fame quarterback Aaron Rodgers.

Over the last couple of years, the Steelers simply haven't had enough firepower. Rumors have been starting to fly about Tomlin potentially not being the right guy to lead the team back to a championship.

Throughout his tenure with Pittsburgh, Tomlin has never had a losing season. He took over as the Steelers' head coach back in 2007 and has compiled a 183-107-2 overall record.

One former Pittsburgh star has spoken out with a very controversial opinion about Tomlin's future with the team.

ESPN analyst Ryan Clark revealed that he thinks Tomlin's voice no longer carries as much weight with the Steelers.

"As great as a coach he is, and he's a first-ballot Hall of Famer, I believe his voice has run stale [in Pittsburgh]," Clark said.

Looking ahead to the 2025 season, Pittsburgh has a lot of talent on its roster. There is enough in place to be a potential playoff caliber team.

Right now, there is no legitimate starting quarterback on the roster. Mason Rudolph and Will Howard are both talented, but they aren't the kind of player who can power a Super Bowl run. Rodgers could be that guy.

Adam Schefter recently revealed a new update about Rodgers and when the Steelers might find out about his decision.

"I think the Steelers' mandatory minicamp is next month," Schefter said. "Forget the exact date, roughly June 10. I would think that we would get a decision from Aaron Rodgers shortly before then about whether or not he should play. To me, you can't miss that mandatory minicamp where you start gearing up. I guess you can, but that's not ideal."

Should things not go well for Pittsburgh in 2025, more speculation and rumors will come out about Tomlin's future. The Steelers need to win and compete for a Super Bowl or else change may be needed.
