Arsenal revisit interest in 23yo Premier League forward

Arsenal are reportedly once again assessing João Pedro as a potential addition to their forward line, with the Brighton & Hove Albion striker under fresh consideration ahead of a summer that is likely to include a number of signings in attacking positions.

Pedro, 23, has scored 30 goals in 70 matches since joining Brighton from Watford in 2023 for a fee of around £30 million. Arsenal have followed his progress closely since his arrival in England from Fluminense in 2020 and explored a move before his transfer to the south coast. He is currently valued at around €50m and under contract until 2028 on wages said to be around £50kpw, the same as Neto has earned every week this season sitting on Arsenal’s bench.

The club are reviewing a number of forward options for both the central role and the left flank. Pedro’s profile remains attractive to Mikel Arteta and Andrea Berta, with his ability to play across the front line and operate in tight spaces fitting the technical demands of Arsenal’s system.

He is being considered alongside other targets such as Viktor Gyokeres, who is reportedly close to moving to Arsenal, having agreed financial terms with the club.

Liverpool and Chelsea are also understood to be interested in Pedro. Chelsea have been following him since his Watford days and are looking at several forward options including Benjamin Sesko and Liam Delap.

Liverpool are expected to back head coach Arne Slot with a significant budget, with a forward among their priorities.
