FRISCO - The NFL has released the full 2025 schedule, and the Dallas Cowboys have a glorious chance to fix so much of what was broken a year ago.
How do they start?
Dallas opens the NFL season in Philadelphia against the Eagles, and then it's the New York Giants, Chicago Bears, and Green Bay Packers.
That is an interesting quartet of games.
What about "the gauntlet''? There are four more games, straddling Thanksgiving, when Dallas plays the Super Bowl winners from Philadelphia, the runners-up from Kansas City, the powerhouse Lions at Detroit and then the Minnesota Vikings back at home.
Those four teams' combined record in 2024?
Only 58-10, is all.
Add it all up, and as we point out here, maybe a 10-7 record is a reasonable wish.
But ...
NFL oddsmakers do not see it at all as they have, in looking at it game by game, Dallas serving as the favorite in only six of the Cowboys' 17 games! (See "hate'' below.)
Are the Bears and the Panthers and the Raiders and maybe the Giants have-nots?
Fine.
Beat them. That's five wins.
Where do the other five wins come from?
Like any schedule, for any team in any year, this one presents quite the opportunity for Dallas to stake an NFC claim and to state an NFL case.
But the oddsmakers have spoken. And while it is a shocking conclusion they are making about the start of the coach Brian Schottenheimer Dallas era ... their numbers do not add up in a positive way for the Cowboys.
