Travis Hunter is going to be one of the most talked about players in the NFL leading up to the 2025 season. After being selected by the Jacksonville Jaguars at No. 2 overall in the 2025 draft following an aggressive trade up with the Cleveland Browns, he's already starting to become the new face of the franchise.
The former Colorado Buffaloes' star is gearing up to play both sides of the football in his rookie season. In college, he was a standout wide receiver and also played at a high level at cornerback.
Due to his strong play on both sides of the football throughout the 2024 college football season, Hunter won the coveted Heisman Trophy. He's now looking to take that success to a franchise that badly needs it.
Ahead of his rookie season, one former Super Bowl champion spoke out with a bold statement about the Jaguars' soon-to-be star.
Ryan Clark, who is now an analyst for ESPN, did not hold back in his message about Hunter.
"Travis is the best to have ever played both ways," Clark said.
Hunter receiving that kind of take from an NFL player who was very successful in his career is eye-opening. He hasn't even played a single professional game.
During the 2024 college football season with the Buffaloes, Hunter caught 96 passes for 1,258 yards and 15 touchdowns on the offensive side of the ball. Defensively, he racked up 35 total tackles, a forced fumble, four interceptions, and 11 defended passes.
His numbers are there in college to deserve a lot of credit. Now, he'll need to prove he can hold up while playing both sides of the ball against NFL talent.

Jacksonville will open up its 2025 regular season on Sept. 7 at home against the Carolina Panthers. Hunter's first preseason game will come on Aug. 9 against the Pittsburgh Steelers, also at home.
