Arsenal are set to turn down the opportunity to sign Bayern Munich stars Leroy Sane and Kingsley Coman in the summer transfer window.

That is according to former Man United and Blackburn chief scout Mick Brown, who remains very well-connected within the game, as he exclusively told Football Insider that Mikel Arteta is determined to strengthen out wide this summer.

Both players have been heavily linked with moves away from Germany this summer as their respective agents have contacted a number of clubs to express their availability.

This comes after Brown told Football Insider that Arsenal are keeping tabs on Sane, who will be out of contract next month, while talks have been held with Coman’s agent.

However, there are now concerns about whether either winger would be up to the pace of the Premier League as they have begun considering other high-profile options.

Football Insider revealed Real Madrid star Rodrygo is on Arteta’s shortlist and has also attracted interest from Liverpool as he could be allowed to leave Los Blancos.

Arsenal make Gabriel Martinelli decision as replacements lined up

Brown told Football Insider that Arsenal are prepared to sell Gabriel Martinelli if they can land a top-class replacement in the transfer market.

The former scout, who has a wealth of experience in top-level player recruitment after over a decade at Man United during their most successful period, has insisted that they are prepared to divert their attention away from the Bayern stars.

“Arsenal are prepared to let Martinelli go,” he told Football Insider.

“But it will come down to whether they can bring in a replacement for him.

“If they decide to let him leave, they’ll already be working on signing somebody else and it comes down to whether they can get somebody better.

“There’s been a lot of talk about both Coman and Sane from Bayer Munich.

“Their agents have been speaking to clubs and letting them know they’re going to be available.

“But are they going to be the players Arsenal are after?

“They’ve done well in Germany, but they’ve been playing at a lower intensity.

“They’re now getting to the latter end of their careers, so to step back up to the intensity, physicality and demand of the Premier League is a very difficult ask.

“They’d be able to do it in terms of quality, but there are doubts about the physicality of it.

“I think there are other players they’ll be looking at ahead of them.”

Mikel Arteta plots Viktor Gyokeres swoop after Man United twist

The addition of a new top-class winger is not the only move on the agenda at the Emirates this summer, with a striker also a key target.

Football Insider revealed on 13 May that Arsenal have made Viktor Gyokeres their top target for the transfer window and will push to get a deal done.

The 26-year-old has become one of the world’s leading strikers with the Portuguese giants and looks set for a move to the Premier League this summer.

However, Football Insider revealed in April that Man United are confident they will sign Gyokeres and sources believe it is a “done deal”.
