Senior Writer John Oehser: First thought: Analyzing a schedule is a perennially difficult task, and it's impossible to know the real difficulty of a schedule until five or six weeks into a season; that's the reality in a league in which teams often change dramatically from season to season. Second thought: If you believe that teams in 2025 will be at least relatively similar to their 2024 versions, this '25 Jaguars schedule is tricky at the front end and more manageable on the back end. Five of the first seven games before a Week 8 bye are against teams with winning records last season and a sixth game in that stretch is on the road against the perennially tough San Francisco 49ers. The schedule remains tricky with two of the first three games after the bye against playoff teams from 2024 – AFC South rival Houston and the Los Angeles Chargers. The Jaguars then play six of their final seven games against teams that had losing records in 2024. In theory, if the Jaguars can stay around .500 through the first 10 games, they could have a chance to push for the postseason in December and January. That's the theory, but theories rarely hold when analyzing NFL schedules.
