Newly Released 2025 NFL Schedule Includes Enticing Heisman Matchups

The NFL released its 2025 schedule this week and with a dozen Heisman winners on a combined 10 teams, there is no shortage of Heisman vs. Heisman matchups.

Heisman fraternity members will be pit against each other 22 times and there are about two dozen primetime games (Thursdays, Fridays and Mondays) featuring at least one of our trophy recipients.

The new season will kickoff on Thursday, Sept. 4, as Dallas travels to reigning Super Bowl champion Philadelphia, making 2020 winner DeVonta Smith the first Heisman winner to see action.

There are a whopping 13 Monday Night Football games featuring Heisman winners, including in each of the season’s first 10 weeks. The lone Heisman matchup comes in week six when Jayden Daniels’ Washington Commanders host Caleb Williams’ Chicago Bears.

There are 11 Thursday or Friday games scheduled that will feature a Heisman winner, including the aforementioned season opener. Three of those are Heisman matchups, including Cincinnati at Baltimore on Thanksgiving night in Week 13, Chicago at Philadelphia a day later and the Eagles at Washington on a Friday night in Week 16.

There are also a handful of flex games in Week 17 and a full slate in Week 18 that could be shuffled around, creating more primetime games.

Heisman-winning rookie and new Jacksonville Jaguar Travis Hunter will debut in Week 1 against 2021 Heisman winner [Bryce Young](http://Bryce Young)’s Carolina Panther squad, one of three Heisman matchups he’ll have. Hunter’s Jaguars face Joe Burrow’s Cincinnati team in Week 2 and Kyler Murray’s Arizona team in Week 12.

Smith has the most scheduled Heisman matchup games with six on the docket, including two vs. Jameis Winston and the New York Giants and two against Daniels’ Washington squad.

Williams will face five different teams with Heisman winners, including Daniels in Week 6, at Baltimore’s Lamar Jackson and Derrick Henry in Week 8, at Burrow’s Bengals in Week 9, against Winston’s Giants in Week 10 and at Smith’s Eagles in Week 13.
