The Seattle Seahawks are already envisioning packages that will take advantage of Jalen Milroe and his running ability ahead of his rookie season in the NFL.

This comes as no surprise to those who watched Milroe be regarded as arguably the best runner of the football at the quarterback position in college football, rushing for 33 touchdowns and 1,577 total yards during his two seasons as a starter at Alabama. Milroe also ran an unofficial 4.37 40-yard dash time at the Alabama Pro Day in March before being selected by Seattle in the third round of the 2025 NFL Draft.

ESPN’s Brady Henderson provided some insight into the Seahawks’ plan for Milroe.

“Right away — in a specialty role. Milroe needs to make improvements as a passer, so he won’t challenge Darnold as QB1 and might not even beat out Drew Lock as QB2,” ESPN’s Brady Henderson wrote in a story published Thursday. “But Seattle envisions Milroe playing a few snaps per game in packages that will take advantage of his running ability.”

Milroe is expected to learn under the tutelage of veteran quarterback, Sam Darnold, but it’ll be interesting to see what array of ways the Seahawks offense can take advantage of the former Alabama quarterback’s legs in his rookie season in Seattle.
